The Greatness of the Vajra Yogas of Kalachakra 26 September, 6:30 PM

The Kalachakra Tantra is the most comprehensive and effective system within Tibetan Buddhism, valued by all schools as ' the King of Tantras' . The Jonang, however, is the tradition that has the specific focus of Kalachakra practice, and is the only tradition that holds the entire Kalachakra system, with the higher stages of the profound and unique completion practice known as the “Six Vajra Yogas"

Khentrul Rinpoche will introduce understanding ofthe profound and powerful aspects of the completion stage practices of Kalachakra — the Six Vajra Yogas.

When the Kalachakra teachings first arrived in India from Shambhala, the abbot of Nalanda University made the bold statement that whoever does not know the Six Vajra Yogas does not know the Vajrayana path, and whoever does not know the Vajrayana path remains within Samsara. Very quickly within the prestigious monastic universities of Northern India, the Kalachakra completion stage came to be considered the pinnacle of the Buddhist path.

This deep respect for Kalachakra was carried into Tibet, and can be seen in how the Kalachakra literature is placed ahead as the King of Tantras in the Tibetan canon.
